We recommend you sweep or vacuum your floor regularly depending on the traffic in your home. Use soft bristles and no beater brushes. Spot clean with a damp cloth. When doing a deeper clean, use a damp terry cloth to wipe down the floor. There are some really good hardwood floor cleaners you can spray on to your cloth or mix with water. If you would like, we have floor cleaning kits availible.

Never use any cleaning system that sprays liquid directly onto the floors or use hot steam. These tend to get water between the boards and cause damage on all floors. Also stay away from oil soaps, waxes, or any cleaner that leaves a residue. New finish does not adhere to floors cleaned with these produces. The cleaners should be of a neutral pH base.

Depending on the amount of traffic and the finish product used, we recommend a maintenance coat every three to five years. This should be done when you start to notice some wear on the finish and before it has worn through to the wood. Often products that are pre-finished will need this maintenance as well. A maintenance coat is a lot less expensive than if the floor needs to be completely sanded and finished. If your floor is starting to look dull or worn you can always call and we can check it for you. A maintenance coat is usually quick and dries in a couple of hours (depending on footage and finish used). It also extends the life of your floor and costs less than regular carpet cleanings.
