  • Dann Byck, MD

    Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

    Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon Dann Byck, MD, specializes in sports medicine and performs several orthopaedic procedures, including arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. Dr. Byck is very excited to bring state-of-the-art care to his patients in Utah Orthopaedics' new state-of-the-art office building, located in Ogden, Utah. ‍Dr. Byck was fellowship-trained at Mississippi Sports Medicine Center in Jackson, Mississippi. This fellowship is considered amongst the world's best in the fields of sports medicine and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. Dr. Byck is a Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America and has trained many orthopaedic surgeons from all over the world. He has been practicing in Ogden since 2002 and enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and hiking along the Wasatch front. Over the years, Dr. Byck has published in peer-review journals and textbooks. He has lectured at regional and national meetings. But the most rewarding academic endeavor has been his association with the Arthroscopy Association of North America. The Arthroscopy Association of North America is dedicated to education, and at the Arthroscopy Association of North America's courses and meetings, Dr. Byck has instructed fellow orthopaedists at many courses on shoulder, elbow, wrist, and knee injuries. In addition, Dr. Byck was selected by the Arthroscopy Association of North America as a Master Shoulder Instructor. This means that he lectures on, demonstrates, and teaches cutting-edge techniques in arthroscopic shoulder surgery to orthopaedic surgeons at the Orthopedic Learning Center in Chicago. Dr. Byck's current research interests include pain reduction after surgery. He is investigating the use of simple to use electronic devices that have shown excellent results in plastic surgery for use in reducing post-operative pain in orthopaedic surgery patients. Dr. Byck is also involved in research to develop programs used in industry to reduce workplace injuries and promote long-term wellness. At Utah Orthopaedics, Dr. Byck's practice is primarily within sports medicine with a focus on the arthroscopic treatment of injuries to the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He is the director of the Utah Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center as well as team MD for several local high schools in the region and the Utah Grizzlies Professional Hockey Team. Dr. Byck is proud to be affiliated with Ogden Regional, Mckay-Dee Surgery Center, Mount Ogden Surgery Center, Layton Hospital, Davis Surgery Center, and Epic Surgery Center.

  • Jeffrey J Rocco, MD

    Foot and Ankle Surgeon | Orthopedic Surgeon

    Jeffrey Rocco, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction, lower extremity trauma, and hip and knee replacement. He provides top-quality orthopaedic care to patients throughout Ogden, Utah, at Utah Orthopaedics. After completing his undergraduate studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Dr. Rocco earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to complete his fellowship at the Michigan International Foot and Ankle Center in Pontiac, Michigan, in 2003 and has been practicing in Utah since 2006. Dr. Rocco was the first to perform ankle replacement surgery in Weber County. At Utah Orthopaedics, he offers non-operative treatments and employs minimally invasive surgical techniques.   • Damian A. R. Illing, MD

    Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon | Orthopedic Surgeon

    Damian Illing, MD, is a fellowship-trained hand, upper extremity, and peripheral nerve surgeon on the team at Utah Orthopaedics. Dr. Illing is very excited to return to where he completed residency and to provide care to the community of Ogden, Utah. Dr. Illing was born and raised near Denver, Colorado. After his undergraduate, business, public health, and medical training in his home state, he relocated to Utah to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Utah Health in 2020. In residency, he found a passion for the complexities and rewarding outcomes of hand surgery and returned to the University of Colorado to complete his Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery fellowship. Dr. Illing finds the complex anatomy of the hand a masterpiece of form and function and enjoys the ability to incorporate aspects of many orthopaedic subspecialties like trauma, arthroscopy, joint replacement, and microvascular surgery into his practice. As an avid outdoorsman, Dr. Illing now sees Utah as his home. He enjoys skiing, whitewater kayaking, camping, ice hockey, and spending time with family and friends.   • Alexandra Rocco

    Certified Physician Assistant

    Physician assistant Alexandra Rocco, PA-C, serves as the director of Utah Orthopaedics’ Bone Health Clinic in Ogden, Utah. She also provides assistance to Jeffrey Rocco, MD, both in clinic and in surgery. Alexandra is trained in many of the special techniques and procedures that are utilized in the practice. In addition to providing general orthopaedic care, her practice focuses on the treatment of hip and knee conditions. In addition to her work at Utah Orthopaedics, Alexandra has also been a fitness trainer for over 20 years.

    Born and raised in the Ogden area Brandon completed his nursing training at Weber State University. He went on to attain his advanced level of education in the Nurse Practitioner program at BYU. As a NP-C Brandon has worked in Orthopedics for the past 6 years including the past 4 years with Dr. Byck. As a NP-C, Brandon is qualified to function as your Orthopedic provider. He has trained in the specific techniques we have developed to bring state-of-the-art musculoskeletal care.

  • Jonathan Wheelwright

    Physical Therapist | Orthopedic Clinical Specialist

    Jon Wheelwright DPT was born in Boise, Idaho and grew up in North Logan, Utah. He completed his undergraduate work at the Utah State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, and graduated from The University of Utah with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He has experience treating patients with a broad variety of orthopaedic conditions. His clinical interests include manual therapy in the treatment of patients with neck and back pain. He has also taken classes on the McKenzie Method of treatment, which focuses primarily on patients with spinal conditions. He is fluent in Spanish. Jon has a particular interest in orthopaedic manual therapy. Physical therapy allows him to use his passion for fitness and overall health, and to encourage others to maximize their ability to do the things they enjoy in life. He also enjoys the opportunities that physical therapy affords him to get to know such a wide variety of people. Jon loves snow skiing, running, mountain and road biking, hiking, and camping. Jon has always had a passion for being outdoors. He and his wife, Lori Ann, are proud parents of two little boys.

    Physical Therapist

    One word can sum up why Nicholas became a Physical Therapist: Progress. The atmosphere of Physical Therapy is always positive and any level of progress is celebrated. Every time a patient is able to move with greater ease, lift more weight or has less pain is a triumph for both the patient and their therapist. He considers it an honor to play a part in seeing people make progress in their abilities and reach their goals. Nicholas received his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Utah and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami. He has had experience working with a variety of injuries and operations and uses both hands-on skills and exercises to relieve pain and get patients back to what they love to do! Nicholas uses education to explain what is causing pain and how the exercises and techniques will help the patient. He focuses on empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery. Outside of the clinic, he enjoy spending time with his wife, Kelly, and his two boys. He enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, cooking and photography. He also enjoys going to local events, farmer’s market, festivals, and other community or church activities.​
